Techiman: Agric Minister lauded for subsidising Fertilizer for farmers

The Officer- in- Charge Special Duties (S.D) at the planting for Food and Jobs(PFJ) Secretariat Baffour Amo Kofi 11 has said that the introduction of 50% Fertilizer Subsidy for farmers in the country have made the Planting for Food and Jobs program a successful one.

Speaking to newsmen in an interview at Techiman in the Bono East Region, Baffour Amo Kofi said due to the Fertilizer Subsidy, a lot of farmers have been able to grow more produce reducing the import of various food items from neighbouring countries .
According to him, there has been massive job opportunities for Ghanaians and urged all unemployed youth to make farming an important venture to ease their burden.

Baffour Amo Kofi also commended the Minister Designate for Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto for his pronouncement on the Fertilizer Subsidy at his vetting on last Thursday that initially there were a lot of summugling of the Fertilizer to near by countries but through the hard work of the Special Duties Secretariat there has been a massive improvement in the sector and has curbed that act.

Mr Baffour Amo Kofi 11 therefore charged all Ghanaians not to politicize the Planting for Food and Jobs program since farming doesn’t know any politician and by so doing Ghanaians can export more food stuffs to other countries for more income.
