FSHS: Ghana Highway Authority urged to construct Zebra Crossings on roads

Leadership of concerned Parents for Free SHS Ghana has a matter of urgency called on the Ghana Highways Authority to provide Speed humps and Zebra Crossings infront of all schools on highways across the country to reduce Students and Pedestrians knock down in such areas.

In a statement issued by the Secretariat in Techiman in the Bono East Region, Mr Benjamin Oteng Marfo the National Chairman of Education Think-Tank bemoaned the high speed of some drivers when they reach various schools hence the call for the demarcating of Zebra Crossings and Speed humps as early as possible.

Mr Marfo added that when their plea is considered it can reduce the Carnage near various schools in the country.

Further more, Mr Oteng Marfo expressed joy by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to suspend the celebration of this year’s 64th Independence Parade due to covid 19 but appealed to leadership to adopt the shift system in schools to help contain the spread of the virus.

Mr Benjamin Oteng Marfo appealed to government, Computerize Schools Selection Placement System (CSSPS) to suspend this year’s Placement of BECE Candidates at various Senior High schools but rather find a solution which won’t compel parents and students to converge at various schools because of covid 19 outbreak in the country.
