The Christian Leader Must be Above Reproach
Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
1 Timothy 3:2
Even though it is a good thing to desire to lead God’s church, there are qualifications that must be met.
These qualifications are listed in 1 Timothy 3:2-7. These requirements can, however, be broken into two areas. First the Christian leader must be blameless.
What this means is that at no point should anything negative be pointed at the Christian leader whether about marriage, emotional temper and emotions management, upbringing of children or handling of money.
For the Christian leader, character is as important as competence. The integrity of the Christian leader must be beyond reproach.
Biblical standards for Christian leadership can’t be compromised in the light of demands of contemporary society.
Charisma is important but character stands tall. Shalom.
