Afigya Kwabre South District: Farmers Laud President, Government For Their Consistent Support As They Receive Farm Inputs Subsidies

Afigya Kwabre South District Farmers praise President Akufo-Addo and NPP Government for their consistent support as they receive Farm inputs subsidies.

Several farmers from various communities in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti region have thanked President Nana Akuffo-Addo and his government for their efforts to make agriculture sustainable and profitable by subsidizing them with farming inputs.

The farmers thanked the government through the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly for taking keen interest in issues related to farmers. They expressed their happiness at the consistent support the government has been giving to improve farmers’ lives.

This commendation came when the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly supplied them with 1 thousand seedlings of coconut for cultivation.

The District Chief Executive, Hon Adu-Opoku Christian handling over the seedlings disclosed that, already the assembly had given the farmers palm seedlings, rice seedlings for cultivation, piglets for rearing and they are of the hope to provide additional 4 thousand coconuts and pawpaw seedlings in the subsequent months for plantation.

Speaking at the short ceremony held at the forecourt of the District Assembly Hon. Adu Poku Christian, affectionately called APC noted that, the government is poised to making Ghana a food and agricultural hub in West Africa and for that matter, it has drawn various interventions and programs to help farmers grow for the country to become self-sufficient including Planting for Export and Rural Development PERD, Planting for Food and jobs and many other programs.

This according to him implies that, the government is committed in the agriculture and taken much concern about the Ghanaian farmers.

He said, the move has become very necessary because Ghana is developing so the Agric sector has much more role to play in making sure that large quantity of food is produced to contain the growing population.

Meanwhile, the District Director of agriculture, Mr. Kwame Amoako Peter admonished the farmers to make good use of the seedlings to achieve the desired purpose.

He charged them to continuously weed off unwanted plants and ensure frequent spraying to prevent pets and insects, adding that, the farmers must not only center on cocoa cultivation but other crops that’s why the government is embarking on the project.
