Mid Year Budget Statement: Government Attempts To Implement Alan’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

The Mid Year Budget statement was presented to the parliament of Ghana on behalf of the President by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta today.

Ghanaians since 2021, have been taking through austerity measures with the view to stabilizing the micro economic environment for a growth take off.

The austerity measures could not save the situation leading the government to engage the IMF on a program for an amount of $3billion. This is the 18th time Ghana has engaged the fund for balance of payment support.

Mr. Kyerematen who is the next flagbearer of the Npp and also the next likely President of Ghana, on the 10th of January, 2023,put forward a plan that he thinks will resolve the challenges faced by the country Ghana and prevent it from going back to the IMF when the current program with the fund comes to an end in 2025.

The Great Transformational Plan (GTP) is the plan Mr. Kyerematen believes will deal with the financial and economic difficulties of the country and propel it into a prosperous nation.

The GTP focuses on revolution in the Agricultural sector backed by Industrialisation as a key component to generate the much needed revenue for the country.

In today’s mid year budget statement, the minister of finance gave some attention to the Plan put forward by Mr. Kyerematen by emphasizing the government’s focus on agriculture and industry going forward to assure growth and prosperity.

The minister was emphatic that the only way the country could make a headway is to invest in agriculture and industry with the view to expanding the economy for revenue enhancement to achieve economic growth.

Industry captains and entrepreneurs who spoke at the end of the budget presentation, made the point that the idea to concentrate on Agriculture and Industrialisation has the potential to unlock the economic potential of the country and hoped that the statement as contained in the budget will be actualised to achieve the much needed results.

Captains of industry expressed their appreciation to Mr. Kyerematen for his foresight and hoped that the country particularly this government will make do the promise as contained in the mid year budget to focus on agriculture and industry.
