“Don’t Wait To Fall Sick Before You Think Of Health Insurance” ~ NHIS CEO Admonishes Ghanaians.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has urged every Ghanaian to register with the NHIS and not to wait and get sick before they think of health insurance. He said the registration has become easier using “myNHIS” App on our phones.

The Chief Executive Officer made this appeal in an interview with Odoom Prince Linford of nkwa fm after his visit to Assin Fosu Municipal office of the National Health Insurance Scheme and also donated a vehicle to aid them convey out their duties effectively.

Dr. Oko Boye also had an interactions with the management of St. Francis Xavier Hospital on some issues with regards to their health insurance claims.

He quizzed why some people will refuse to pay only Gh 30 for health insurance but spent more money on buying credit on their phones and later go to hospital for operation with no money and no insurance too.

The CEO pleaded with hospitals in the country to try their best and pay their suppliers when NHIS pay them their claims and stop deceiving their suppliers that health insurance has not paid them.

He finally congratulated the management of St. Francis Hospital for building a modern maternity facility and promised that NHIS will partner St Francis Hospital to see the successful completion of the project.

The Sister-in- Charge of St. Francis Xavier Hospital Mad. Georgina Donzing express their happiness for the NHIS CEO visiting their facility and listening to their challenges.

He said their challenges include their maternity block building, delayance in claims payments, and high costs of medicine as compared to what insurance pays etc.
