Western North Region: Fisheries commission schools stakeholders on fish rearing

Western North Regional Fisheries commission engage stakeholders on how to rear catfish and tilapia

The Western North Regional fisheries commission has organized a day maiden session with fish farmers within the region on how to rear catfish and tilapia.

Mr. Alhassan Arafat Salifu, the western north regional fisheries commission Director has explained that the fisheries commission has implemented aquaculture for food and jobs project which has made them construct fish ponds for the youth of within four months now, the fishes are ready for sales.

He added that, it is the aid of the commission to make fishes always available in the Sefwi Wiawso municipality and the wester north region as a whole so that people will stop travelling outside Wiawso just for fishes.

He cited that the commission is in collaboration with some government agencies like forestry commission, rain forest etc in the commission’s operation.

In an interview with Nattybongo, Hon. Luis Owusu Agyepong, the MCE for Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly also expressed his sincere gratitude about this project.

According to him, job facilities are difficult to come nowadays, so the need for the youth to engage themselves in the fisheries commission’s initiative for their living since not everyone will government work to do.
