Our able national executive ably led by hard working president Hon Frank Ackah Nelson, our distinguished hon members across the country, our noble men and women from the media, ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure to call upon you this morning to express our stand on pertinent issues and current happenings across the length and breadth of the country most especially honorable Assembly members.

First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt appreciations and gratitude to our president His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his manifesto promises on payment of allowances to Assembly members which has been re-echoed and categorically stated and read in state of the nations address (SONA) on Thursday 27th February, 2025. GAAM believes it’s a step in the right direction however, we plead that the payment of the allowances should be promptly consistent and backed by a legislation framework in order to make it binding notwithstanding which government is in power.

Again, GAAM is very grateful that since inceptions of distribution motorbikes to hon members across MMDAS has never ceased since its introductions and has positively impacted in diverse ways not only to hon members but also to various MMDAS and Ghana at large. It is in this view, that we pray that henceforth it should be done early enough so members can use it purposefully and not at the end/ later part of tenure of members. Moreso, GAAM is appealing to Gov’t if the motorbikes could be replaced with small cars to hon members payable from monthly allowances due A.M

Another issues of concerns have to with hon members end of term benefits/ emoluments which is nothing to write home about because of directives from the sector ministry to MMDAS. GAAM is appealing to His Excellency the president and his cabinet to draw out a plan so members can be located something substantial from consolidated funds evenly distributed to hon members and shouldn’t be on the basis of financial strength of MMDAS.

Finally, since hon Assembly members are the mouth piece or voices of the grassroot in every locality, training and in- service training should once in a while be organized to equip hon members in discharge of their duties with require logistics so Assembly’s revenue generation could improved.

With our total membership of over Six thousand across the country, GAAM is committed to working hard to contribute its quota towards the socio- economic development of the country.

Long Live GAAM, long Live Ghana.
GAAM! United we stand,
GAAM!! Unity for development
