Ahead of the final Basic Education Certificate Examination BECE, Students in the old Tafo-Pankrono municipality of the Ashanti region have received examination kits such as mathematical instrument (Maths sets) and pens totalling 2000 each from the Deputy Chief Executive of the Minerals Commission who happens to be a native and constituent of Tafo-Pankrono constituency, Dr. Mrs. Louis Carol Serwaa Donkor.
This great initiative will equip students/candidates with the right skills and materials to help improve their overall performance in the upcoming examination.
The benevolence was presented on behalf of Dr. Serwaa by the Old Tafo constituency Npp communication Officer, Chief Anokye.
According to him, apart from the efforts to facilitate and distribute the exams kits to these first time writers, Dr. Mrs. Louis Carol Serwaa Donkor who doubles the Coordinator for National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP), has also partnered with the Municipal Education Directorate to organize free extra tuition for students sitting for the BECE both public and private school.
“This particularly will focus on preparing students to comprehend the rudiments of the examination and areas of subjects where candidates find it challenging.
The tutorial sessions are centred on helping the candidates to read and understand questions and to improve and sharpen their answering skills,” Chief Anokye said on behalf of Dr. Mrs. L C Serwaa Donkor.
The Old Tafo-Pankrono Municipal Director of Education, Ms Betty Drah appealed to stakeholders to emulate the gesture by supporting the schools in the municipality with basic educational infrastructure.
She observed that the schools in the municipality lack computers and some of the school buildings are in a deplorable state which need urgent renovation to improve teaching and learning.
Ms Betty Drah expressing her profound gratitude to the Donor stated that the donation has come at the right time and will go a long way to help resolve some of the burdens of the candidates.
She admonished the 1937 final year BECE candidates in the municipality to focus on their studies by eschewing any form of examination malpractices.
The NAELP Coordinator further extended the benevolence to the New Patroitic Party NPP, office at Tafo in the same municipality where she distributed 100 each of the Maths sets and pens to the party polling station officers, coordinators and constituency executives.
Hon. Nana Afia Konadu Yiadom, the constituency first vice chair received on behalf of the executives and thanked the Donor.
