The Eastern Regional outfit of the Department of Urban Roads is set to construct about 200 km town roads in the region.
This will include alsphat overlay in Asamankese, Kade, Akwatia and amongst other towns.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Department of Urban Roads Ing. Kofi Appiah- Agyei in an interview in Koforidua has said.
He said last year, the department undertook the construction of about 42km town roads in the Eastern Region which Akyem Akropong,
Kwabeng,and Koforidua roads received face-lift.
Ing. Kofi Nti Appiah-Agyei said in line with the government policy of declaring last year as year of Roads, the department of Urban Roads is doing it’s best to construct quality roads in the Region to facilitate easy transportation and so about 48 km of some town roads have been alsphated by the department.
The Urban Director emphasised that road from Apedwa junction to Akwadum, Akyem Kyebi, Akyem Oda, Suhum, Akropong and Peduase and many others have been alsphated.
Outlining the plans of the department on Roads to be undertaken this year, Ing. Kofi Nti Appiah-Agyei disclosed that the department is looking forward that about 160km of Roads would be done this year to help bridge the road infrastructure deficit in the Eastern Region.
This will be in addition to the 200 km of roads on going currently in the region.
He assured the public to complete all ongoing road construction, and appealed them to cooperate with the department to enhance successfully projects in the region.
