BECE, WASSCE Cancelled In Newly Released Educational Reform- MoE

The Ministry of Education in their new educational reforms has outlined that the BECE and WASSCE organised by the West Africa Examination Council will no longer be used to enrol students into the Senior High and Universities.

In a bid to transform education in Ghana, the reforms will see them cancel the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) written by final year Junior High School students for access to the Senior High School.

The BECE will be replaced with a placement examination to enrol students into SHS 1.

At the Senior High School, students will run only core subjects/programmes for the first year.

From SHS 2, students will then choose their career paths between vocational education, technical training, business, arts, and science where they will be awarded a diploma on completion.
