Anti-Slavery: 57 Children Have Been Rescued ~ Kofi Annan Hinted

57 Children Have Been Rescue From Anti -Slavery ~ Kofi Annan Hinted

The Executive Director for Challenging Heights, Mr James Kofi Annan has stated that, within the month of September, they have supported in the rescuing of 24 Children from human trafficking in fishing.

He said 8 of the children were rescued through the organizations converssional approach while 16 of those children were rescued in Ghana’s boarders with it neighboring countries.They were made up of 6 girls and 18 boys with 1 of the girls being pregnant at age 14yrs.

In a press conference, he said this has brings it to the total of 57 children that the organization has rescued in 2022 as long as Challenging height is a leading local Ghanaian anti-slavery organization which has worked to address human trafficking since it inception in 2003.

According to him the organization has so far rescued merely 1800 children from various forms of slavery and force labour.”A new data from the International Labour Organization,Work Free Foundation and the International Organization For Migration shows that 49.6million people were living in Modern slavery in 2001 a lone almost 10million more than the previous global data on the issue “ he expressed.

Again he hinted that out of that figure,28million of them were in force labour while 22million were trapped force marriage with over 26.7million of them being females.
