Ankase Methodist Hospital Screens 100s As The World Observes Sight Day

World Sight Day: Ankase Methodist Hospital joins, Provides Free Eye Screening&Treatment to Public

World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on vision impairment, including blindness.

This year, World Sight Day is celebrated under the theme “Love Your Eyes”.

Globally, at least 1 billion people have near or distance vision impairment that could be prevented or has yet to be addressed.

As part of the celebration, the Ankaase Methodist Hospital in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region has taken an initiative to organize an outreach programme to provide the residents free access to quality eye-screening and treatment.

The Eye Specialist (Ophthalmologist) of the Ankaase Methodist Hospital, Doctor Emmanuel Kwakye Frimpong said the free medical exercise provides the people an opportunity to get better medical attention to their health problems.

According to him, the eye is most sensitive organ in the human body which must receive much attention by screening at least once in a year to enhance good care.

Advising the participants,
Dr Emmanuel Kwarkye Frimpong, warned that there is no spare for the eye, therefore it is imperative to ensure proper eating habits and avoid excessive intake of alcohol and fats foods.
