The Chief of Tafo and the Benkum hene of Kumasi Traditional Council in the Ashanti Region, Nana Agyen Frimpong II has warned politicians in the Municipality whose aim is to enhance their personal and parochial interest and neglecting the interest of the Municipality.
At a Press conference held at the Tafo Traditional Palace, Nana Agyen Frimpong II bemoaned the rate at which people backbite, spew malicious about others just for position and honor.
The Chief Comments came after the Assembly man for Pankrono Estate Kwadwo Pipim allegedly disclosed publicly that the Municipal Chief Executive Hon Fred Obeng Owusu has misappropriated some funds in the Assembly which happens to be the common fund of the Member of Parliament in the Constituency without the beneficiary’s knowledge.
Meanwhile the Tafo Traditional Leader disclosed that the same Assembly man Kwadwo Pipim and his cohorts and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Vincent Ekow Assefuah came and requested for his endorsement as the next MCE claiming that Hon Fred Obeng Owusu is not fit and cannot work with him, which he refused because he and the Npp Executives in the Constituency have already endorsed the current Chief Executive to continue his tremendous work for the Municipality.
According to Nana Agyen Frimpong II, due to his refusal to their request, they go miles to tell false and lies against Tafo and the Municipal Chief Executive which he think government’s internal and external auditors could have handled such issue if found to be true.
Nana Agyen Frimpong II and the traditional Council appealed to the President Akufo Addo to renominate Hon Fred Obeng Owusu for them because of his selfless gain, has the Municipality at heart and outstanding performance over the two years in assumption of office.
The Tafo Owner spewed that unlike the former Member of Parliament, the later Legislator and cohorts have been disrespectful to him and the traditional Council which according to the Chief, the Member of Parliament disposes their calls to public gatherings and other events.
