A/R: Juabeng MCE Nominee Receives Vote of NO confidence

The Assembly Members of the Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region failed to reach a unanimous approval of the president’s nominee, Alex K. Sarfo Kantanka.

Out of the 26 Assembly members present, 6 voted Yes and 20 voted No. To that effect, the nominee failed to sure the two-thirds majority votes as required by law to get him confirmed as the MCE.

Per Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution, the chief executive for every MMDA shall be appointed by the President, with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the assembly present and voting at a meeting.
