Members of Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana(CLOGSAG), in Ahafo Region has kicked against what they discribed as compulsory deduction of teir 3 by their mother union CLOGSAG.
The Pension Act 2008 (Act 766), Ghana operates a three-tier pension scheme. Tier-1 is made up of a mandatory monthly contribution of 13.5 per cent of basic salary managed by the SSNIT. Tier-2 is a mandatory contribution of five per cent basic salary managed by a licensed fund manager while the Tier-3 is an optional contribution also managed by licensed private fund managers.
Tier 3 also known ‘Pempamsie,’ the new fund is a voluntary retirement personal pension plan that provides enhanced secure retirement income for individuals.
But CLOGSAG members in Ahafo Region disrupted a meeting of it’s regional executives in Goaso today, saying didn’t fill any forms or consulted before it take effect on their February salaries validation form and asked for refund.
Mr. Patrick Baidoo who led the protest spoke to Success FM’s Atiewin Mohammed.
The Ahafo Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, Mr. Kanto Samad assured members that their concerns will be forwarded to National Executives of CLOGSAG for redress.
