Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has met with a cross section of Landlords and some residents from Bouhu, Krobo, Morwire and Heman who reside at buffer zones of Quarry companies and military shooting range to form a dialogue on Monday.
The meeting was for them to form a concensus as a people to ensure how best they can vacate where they have encroached and to give way for the military to train as well as for the quarries to continue without any incidents.
Addressing the gathering the District Chief Executive, Hon. Christian Adu-Poku disclosed to the Landlords and Ladies that, the Government through the Assembly and its various security forces are about to embark on a massive demolition exercise at buffer zones of Quarry companies and military shooting ranges.
According to the Chief Executive the areas which are going to be affected by the demolition are needed to be prior informed and find a smooth way to carry the exercise, compensate and relocate the affected people if the need be.
Hon. APC stressed that he is exhausting all human-face measures possible for now but the law will take it course, if anyone refuses to go the accepted way as planned.
It was not an easy meeting with the residents of the said areas but there was calm in the end, when both parties agreed to meet two weeks from today.
Meanwhile some residents upon speaking at the meeting expressed their feelings towards the impending exercise.
According to them the allocated place was not initially going to used for the military training zone hence they were quite worried and displeased with the entire approach, but at the end of it all peace and understanding were prevailed.
