Ghana Integrity Initiative GII, has held a Capacity Building Workshop for media practitioners in reporting on financial and Business Investigations at Miklin Hotel in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region..
The GII is a non-partisan, non-profit civil organization established in 1999 which was to focus and lead in the fight against corruption.
The vision of GII is “a corruption-free society where all people and institutions act accountably, transparently and with integrity”
Addressing the Media to Commence the one day sensitization, the Programmes Manageress, Mad. Mary A. Addah said, the training forms part of GII’s Multi-stakeholder Business Integrity Forum (MSBIF) project which has the objective of creating a platform for the private sector, selected public institutions, media, and civil society organizations to identify emerging issues hampering the ease of doing business in Ghana.
She disclosed that there are laws governing businessess set up in Ghana but due to delays in bureaucracy many businesses have not been set up and it affects the country’s economy.
According to Mad. Mary A. Addah, there are a lot of business investors in the Country so if the nation didn’t set good example outside it will bring a big disgrace to the country.
She entreated the media to continue investigating issues that will help the citizens and the country.
Empowering the Journalists, the GII Manageress urged the Media to expose defaulters of state policies most especially corrupt officials for not only the law to deal with them but also to serve as a deterrent to others.
