K’si, OLD TAFO: MCE, MP Stormed and sensitised Market Women and traders on new variant of Covid-19

The Old Tafo Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region together with the office of the Member of Parliament for the Constituency on Monday, have stormed various markets centres in the Municipality to sensitise and create awareness on the upsurge of the new variants of the novel covid-19 pandemic.

They provided thousands of Protective and Preventive Equipments PPEs to Pankrono Market, Tafo Market, pankrono Estate Market and Tafo Moromarkets.

They have already visited and supplied all Lorry terminals, denominational churches and Mosques with same PPEs over the weekend aimed to help contain the spread.

The two advised the people to use the kits for the purpose of which it has been given, adding that they must ensure social distance and refrain from being recalcitrant.

Speaking to newsmen,  the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Fred Obeng Owusu said the government through its various agencies are making every possible effort to reduce or stop the rate at which the deadly virus is spreading in the country hence the move to storm the various places in the Municipality to ensure that protocols measures are adhered to.

Meanwhile the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency, Hon Vincent Ekow Assefuah has confirmed that currently over 533 people have been killed by the covid, therefore there is the need to educate and caution the people.

The Old Tafo Legislator used the period to express his gratitude to the Constituents for the massive endorsement and confidence they gave and have on him during the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

Ghana is currently experiencing another wave of COVID-19 infections.

The country has over 7509 active cases and over 533 deaths as of the latest update.

This has led to pressure on health facilities in the country.

The Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Western regions are leading with high number of active cases.

The Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) has also confirmed Ghana as amongst countries on the continent where the new variant is spreading.
