C/R Ekumfi: pregnant woman killed, baby removed

A Pregnant Woman believed to be in her 40 years has been killed and her baby removed from her stomach at Ekumfi Akwakrom in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region.

Investigation conducted by Nana Tawiah revealed that, the woman is not known in the community and was only seen in the area on yesterday evening suspected to have visited someone.

The woman’s unborn baby was placed beside her whiles one of the baby’s legs has been chopped off with a heavy blood oozing from them.

Speaking to some eyewitnesses, they saw the deceased in the Thursday evening at the area in a pool of blood where the incident happened but saw her lifeless body on Friday 6th August 2021, early morning around 6:00 am.

According to them, they suspected that a vehicle knocked and run over her tommy and run away.

Others also said, there is no sign that indicates a vehicle knocked the woman and splicted her unborn baby but believes an unscrupulous people killed her and removed her unborn baby from her womb. They suspected that the leg of the unborn baby was purposely chopped for money rituals, according to the eyewitness.

The Assembly Man for the Ekumfi Akwakrom Electoral Area, Hon. James Entsie in an interview said, he had a destress call that a pregnant woman has been killed and her unborn baby has been removed.

According to the Assembly Man, the woman cannot be identified as a resident from their area.

He therefore appeal to the general public to help identify the deceased woman. The body has since been deposited at the Saltpond Government Hospital mortuary.

The case has been reported to Ekumfi Esiohyia Police for further investigation and no arrest has been made so far.
