Divisional Police Commander suffers severe injuries as angry demonstrators pelted police officers with stones.
The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Commander, ACP Augustine Luguyare has sustained severe injuries on the left side of his stomach, fingers, thumbs, elbow etc following an attack by angry workers of Shimizu Dai Nippon, a road construction firm who was working on National Trunk Road (8) stretching from Assin Fosu to Assin Praso.
They were protesting for better working conditions and remuneration.
In the process of the demonstration, they block the road to prevent commuters.
In an attempt by the police to remove the blocks from the road, the angry protesters began pelting the police officers with stones and other objects. The police commander suffered severe injuries in the process.
Meanwhile, the angry agitators asserted that the police approach was very rude and aggressive as they suddenly trooped in and began firing gunshots and fired pepper spray indiscriminately as resulting in retaliation.
