Ahafo: Health Directoriate Intensifies Exclusive Breastfeeding Education

The Managers of Asutifi North District Health Directorate in Ahafo Region have embarked on intensive education exercise on Exclusive Breastfeeding to let babies and nursing mothers have full benefits of the act.

Joe Pawa in an interview with a Senior Staff Nurse of Asutifi North District Hospital, Joana Adobea Mensah stated that the rationale behind the intensive education exercise at various communities on Exclusive Breastfeeding is help nursing mothers know and understand its benefits to their babies and themselves.

According to her, when nursing mothers are able to give only breast milk to their babies from the day of birth up to the six month which is termed Exclusive Breastfeeding, it will help the babies to be more intelligent academically, their skin are always in good shape, prevents them from getting diseases often and prevents constipation as well.

On the benefits nursing mothers will derive from practising Exclusive Breastfeeding, Joana Adobea Mensah hinted that it serves as family planning and also save money.

Again, Nutrition Officer Naziru Sumaya revealed, nursing mothers in the District especially Kenyasi are doing extremely well when it comes to Exclusive Breastfeeding due to education but not withstanding there are few ones who are reluctant to comply. She assured the public that health workers will do all they can to get all nursing mothers on board.
