Afigya Kwabre South District distributes 20,000.00 pawpaw seedlings to farmers on a pilot project.
This when successful, will lead to the establishment of a processing plant to turn the paw paw fruits into different kinds of finished products.
Speaking at the ceremony the DCE, Hon. Christian Adu-Poku urged the youth to fully participate in the venture to get themselves adequately resourced in order to be self reliant. He reiterated the President’s support to farmers through the Assembly by supplying farmers with rice seeds, oil palm seedlings, Coconut seedlings and now pawpaw seedlings.
On the field of animal production, he also mentioned the supply of piglets to farmers. He said all these have been done by the government to enhance the capacity of farmers to be self reliant.
Interestingly, most of the farmers that came for the seedlings included a lot of young women.
The District Agric Director, Mr Kwame Amoako Peter thanked the government and the Assembly, especially the DCE for the support given to the Agric Department to resource farmers within the District.
