A Development group in Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti region known as Caucus of Kwabre East Youth for Development has expressed their deep worry on the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice CHRAJ, over their sabotage, injustice and premeditated act against their member of parliament, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, and to thwart the efforts of the Legislator.
Kwabre East Member of Parliament is being investigated by the CHRAJ over allegations of conflict of interest.
Hon. Francisca Oteng-Mensah, who is the Deputy Gender Minister-designate, has been accused of using her influence as the Board Chairperson of the National Youth Authority NYA, to help in approving the procurement of sanitisers from a company, she is a director and shareholder.
However, in a response to the allegation describing it as a sabotage in a press conference held at Mamponteng on Friday, the chairman for the youth development group, Nana Baffour Ampadu-Kyere said, Kwabre East actually is not happy about how the municipality and the Member of Parliament for the Constituency are being neglected and denied of developmental projects.
Looking at the time of the appointment of the Legislator and the same time of the CHRAJ brouhaha, Hon Nana Baffour Ampadu-Kyere who doubles as the assembly Man for Mamponteng-Abesenase electoral area fumed that it is a clear-sign of maltreatment on the former YEA board chair, demanding answers to the investigation that the CHRAJ made in 2020 and 2021 over the same issue.
“We the Caucus of Kwabre East Youth for Development are appealing to the government to grant the heart desire of our Member of Parliament by constructing the roads in her municipality. All our roads are poor and bad meanwhile, our Member of Parliament is the icon of massive votes for the party” Nana Ampadu-Kyere reiterated.
Speaking with Despite media reporter Rexkin Ohene Boateng, the Caucus Secretary Mr Benjamin D. Kankam said that Kwabre East Youth are grateful to the president Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for honouring their MP Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah as a Deputy Minister for Gender.
According to him their expectation was above this deputy appointment but however, a little drops of water makes a mighty ocean.
He maintained that, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah has put up a splendid performance by pulling over 71,000 votes in 2016 and 77,695 votes in 2020 making her constituency the most populous votes for the NPP.
The Nation’s Prophet quizzed the ruling government on Why do they have to deny the Member of Parliament of quality roads and other developmental projects? “Have you forgotten it was due to her hard work that we voted massively for the party? Why has the NPP neglected Kwabre East?”, He added.
Meanwhile, Hon. Francisca Oteng-Mensah, through her lawyers Ghartey & Ghartey, earlier in a response to the CHRAJ stated that “no facts that would support the belief that their client has been involved in a conflict of interest situation. There is without question, no basis for the belief that there has been a conflict of interest situation.”
The MP’s lawyers noted that the fact that the lawmaker was also the NYA board chair and was linked to Adonko Bitters, did not put her in a conflict of interest situation.
