The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly in the Ashanti Region led by, the Chief Executive, Hon Dr Adu-Opoku Christian APC, has embarked on a working visit to engage residents and workers/traders and to also inspect, commission already initiated ongoing and completed projects in the District.
The purpose of the engagement was to provide a platform for key stakeholders to critically identify their key concerns and challenges and to initiate or adopt a mitigation strategies on the various challenges.
This is the first familiarisation tour the chief executive has embarked upon, since he was appointed by President Akufo-Addo last year 2021 and subsequently elected by the Assembly to steer the affairs of the Assembly.
The familiarisation tour was to bring local governance to the doorstep and to listen to the problems of the people, towns and unions in the district. Where as he explained government e-levy and other policies to the people.
The major problems facing these communities and traders were mainly poor roads network, poor drainage system, security system, heavy road traffic issues, street lights and many more.
Addressing the Chiefs and the People, Hon. Adu-Opoku Christian aka Adwumawra expressed a great deal of gratitude on behalf of the President, Akufo-Addo and entire NPP to the community for their immense support during the 2020 general elections which brought the party into power.
He however, urged the chiefs and people of the areas to come together to help support the government in all spheres of endeavours for developmental goals.
The second time District Chief Executive used the occasion to appeal to the chiefs and people to nurture peace at all times and at all circumstances, should create peaceful atmosphere.
At a visit to Aboabogya community, Hon. Dr APC commissioned a rehabilitated Health Center for the people after the facility had received a befitting facelift from its deplorable state.
At a short durbar, the Otumfour Brempong who is also the Chief of Aboabogya traditional area, Nana Wiafe Akenten Amoah II lauded president Nana Akufo-Addo for his outstanding performance to promoting peace and stability and development in the country despite world covid adverse effects.
He called on the people in the community to bury their differences to foster rapid development.
Nana Wiafe Akenten Amoah II on his part supported and presented 5 ward-beds for the health center, He also hired a grader machine to level and beautify the premises.
The Chief Executive upon responding to the requests assured the people to work assiduously to address the various challenges as their concerns have been noted.
He therefore admonished the traders and the unions to be law-abiding and fulfill all their taxes and levies commitments to the municipal assembly and government as a whole.
Mr Adu-Opoku Christian commended the chief of Aboabogya, Nana Wiafe Akenten Amoah II and the people for the calmness and being supportive to the development in the Aboabogya community.
