WELL SAID, BUT KEEP IT COMING TO END DECADES OF CORRUPTION, ABUSE OF OFFICE AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST, COALITION OF NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANIZERS TO NANA AKUFFO ADDO
The Coalition of Youth organizers welcomes the announcement by the president that any appointee in his who seeks to contest for any leadership position in the party must resign.
This is great news in the sense that, most appointees who are aspirants who are also seeking to contest usually tends to abuse their office, by using state resources particularly logistics and even cash to peruse their personal ambition.
We aware of appointees who are nurturing parliamentary seats by appointing almost half of the delegates, and flagbearer aspirants who have awarded contracts to their campaign managers and coordinators in the various regions.
This new directives by the president will end this conflict of interest and corruption that has bedeviled most of the appointees ranging from cabinet ministers, to CEOs to director Generals in this government.
We don’t want this directive to be for just the purposes of the NPP internal primaries, we also want the old practice of using state resources by incumbent government, to support their candidates during the main elections to end.
Since the inception of the 4th republic, sitting government has allowed their candidates to use state resources to campaign during the main elections, which gives them undue advantage over their opponents.
Countless examples of Sitting MMDCES contesting for the position of a member of Parliament uses state vehicles, fuel by the state and other logistics during campaign which are corruption, abuse of office and conflict of interest all combined.
We hope this same directives will be directed to every appointee who desires to contest as a member of Parliament prior to the internal parliamentary primaries of the NPP.
We also hope the president is going to take this caution to his appointees serious and end this broad day corruption and divided attention on the part of his appointees.
