Use The Right Terminologies For PWDs- University Of Ghana Head Of Social Work Department Appeals

USE THE RIGHT TERMINOLOGIES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY…… UNIVERSITY OF GHANA HEAD OF SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT APPEALS

Voice Ghana in collaboration with Ghana Somubi Dwumadie and UKaid have organized a day’s workshop for Media Personnel on “Positive Disability Language” which about 20 Media Personnels were invited from the various Press Houses in Oti Region and it took place in Nkwanta South.

Speaking to Peace/Hello/Beyond Fm Reporter Yoooooooooooooo Kwabena Ntow after the programme, Dr. Augustina Naami the University of Ghana Head of Department of Social Work stated clearly that the purpose of the whole workshop was to give guidance to the Media Personnels on positive portrayal of People With Disabilities, Again to train Media Personnels to know the right terminologies and images used to describe Person With Disabilities (PWDs) and Person With Mental Health Challenges(PWMHCs)

Dr. Augustina Naami in conclusion admonished to the Government, Those in Authorities, Chiefs to involve Persons with Disabilities in terms of Developmental projects because as a Country without Persons with Disabilities we can not achieve our goals.
