The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Godfred Baah has disclosed that, there is a high rate of teenage pregnancy within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality in the Western North Region.
Mr. Godfred speaking with peace news correspondent Nattybongo, revealed that, most of the men deny their responsibilities after impregnating the girls, by running away or denying and rejecting the pregnancy.
“Seeing a girl at the age of 16 up to 18year old carrying pregnancy without a responsible father to take care for her needs is very worrying” He stated.
Mr Baah said it’s the responsibility of the Social Welfare to see to the development of the Children and all these burdens of teenage mothers, becomes their burden, this according to him has destroy their education.
Mr. Godfred Baah pleaded with the parents to pay proper attention to their wards especially the girl child and also monitor their movements, where they go, who they play with and what they do whenever they go out to avoid any teenage pregnancy.
