Sefwi Juaboso: Illegal chainsaw operators Attack forestry commission officers

Sefwi Juaboso forestry commission manager, Mr Michael Aiddo Gyanfi has described attacks by illegal chainsaw operators in the Juaboso district of the western north region on officials from his office as barbaric and distasteful.

He said a gang of notorious armed illegal chainsaw operators attack his men during their normal operation at Mim, Dome Agyemandieam and sayereso all this communities under Juaboso forest reserves.

Chainsaw operators, numbering about 40 are said to have armed themselves with machetes, guns and other offensive weapons of which they attack forestry officials and exchange of gunfire.

The district manager said they are vowing to sustain their operation to clamp down on chainsaw operators and other encroachers of forest reserves despite threats on their lives.

Mr Michael Aiddo Gyanfi said the case have been report to the western north regional police command, but he says he is more ready to risk his life than to see the forest reserves destroyed.

After battle will the illegal chainsaw operators, equipment including vehicle,as well as huge quantity of lumber was seized by this illegal chainsaw operators.
