A building collapse due to torrential rains has led to the death of two persons, a mother and daughter aged 47 and 11 at Sefwi Bekwai Zongo, in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The incident has led one person suffering degree of injuries.
The Assembly Member for Sefwi Bekwai Zongo Electoral Area, Mr. Kwasi Prince confirmed the sad incidents to Lord FM News, the incident occured on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at about 11pm in the night.
“It happened last Thursday around 11pm in the night when a call came to me to gather some people to rescue the victims. Zongo is an old settlement with weak buildings and the victims were were in one of such structures, but with the force we used were able to rescue the three people but unfortunately the 11year old Precilla was found dead at the spot, Madam Dorothy Darkowaa and son were rushed to Greenshield hospital, but the woman was pronounced dead”.
The son is however, responding to treatment.
Okyeame Kwadwo Nkansah, the brother of the deceased ( Dorothy Darkowaa) expressed his ordeal and stated that it was the torrential rains that caused the death of his sister and daughter.
The building has been in existence for the past 70-80 years, but due to money constraints the family is unable to renovate the structure.
The body of the two has been sent to Sefwi Ahwianso mortuary and the police has commenced their investigations into the matter.
