The Graphic Sample of a Ghc500 Note has been circulating on social media with several people posting their concerns and reacting to it.
The note has all former presidents of the 4th Republic on it including the Incumbent President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo placed in the Middle with former President John Kufour being positioned at the button corner.
Late president Mills is located on the Top of the Note alongside the Late former President Rawlings and Late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is the Third time Nana Akufo-Addo led government is attempting to influence the currency.
The Government introduced Gh100, 200 Notes and a Ghc2 coin, the bank had stated that the Ghc200 and 100 won’t be traded in ATM Machines.
Bank of Ghana Later released a development that the government is to introduce the E-Cedi System making transactions digital.
The Bank of Ghana two weeks ago released a statement again, demanding that Ghc2 Note and 1 Cedi coin are scrapped from the system.
According to the Bank, the said notes are too expensive to print and are also difficult to count in banks with machines used for counting money, Dr. Addison said.
Many have opined that the money in circulation may just be a ploy to test the pulse of Ghanaians to see if it will be flexible to Introduce, others suggested that it was another attempt to dupe from the state because as usual people will not be updated on the total number of currencies printed.
The Bank of Ghana is yet to come out officially to discuss what one is to expect with regards to the new currency,
meanwhile some sissala youth have express displeasure with the President for eliminating Dr. Hill Limann from the Lost of Presidents designed on the currency, they said that the former president has done it some much to be recognized and appreciated in that regard.
