There was chaos and pandemonium at the Bono East NDC Regional Secretariat in the capital Techiman after the vetting of candidates ahead of the party’s internal elections slated for 11th & 12th November, 2022.
It is reported that some unknown thugs believing to be supporters of some of the aspirants who were vetted invaded the party office, attacked and took hostage of the Vetting Committee Members and it took the timely intervention of the Ghana Police Service to restore calm and release the Party Officials.
In view of this unfortunate incident the Bono East NDC Regional Secretariat has issued a Press Release in Techiman dated 19th October, 2022 to condemn the acts of the said thugs calling on Party National Leadership and Law Enforcement agencies to crack the whip to prevent future reoccurrences.

*BONO EAST REGIONAL SECRETARIAT CONDEMNS ATTACK ON THE VETTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND DEBANKS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE REGIONAL CHAIRMAN*
We bring you warm greetings from the Bono East Regional NDC Secretariat.
This release centers on the happenings at the regional secretariat and the subsequent attack on regional vetting committee members who conducted the vetting for the aspiring regional executives on the 17th of October, 2022.
The Regional Secretariat condemns in no uncertain terms the attack on the vetting committee members, who discharged their duties in line with the regional guidelines for the elections and the constitution of the party.
The secretariat sees the attack as regressive and a dent on the hard earn reputation of the Regional Secretariat.
We also want to use this opportunity to correct the erroneous and misleading impression out there that, the thugs who attacked the vetting committee members were organized by the Regional Chairman.
This is untrue and should be treated with every contempt it deserves.
The regional chairman is a peace-loving person and will be the last person to endorse such an indecorous act that will bring shame to the people of the region.
At the end of the vetting, there was a mob attack on the Regional Secretariat by an unknown persons that kept all the vetting committee members including some Regional Executives hostage.
It was the intervention of the police that brought calm and freed all persons around and inside the vetting room including the Regional Chairman.
The Regional Secretariat has videos to validate the above and to clear the erroneous impressions out there.
The Regional Secretariat has accordingly, handed over the video footage to the police, and those involved would be arrested and be made to face the law.
We therefore entreat the general public to disregard the news out there, as appropriate measures are put in place to bring the perpetrators to book.
