“My mandate is to reconstruct Appiatse community” ~ Benito Owusu-Bio.

Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Chairman of the Apppiatse Reconstruction Committee, Hon Benito Owusu-Bio has stated emphatically his mandate given by the president is not to talk about compensation and other related matters but solely on reconstruction.

Speaking to Peace News in a working visit to Appiatse Reconstruction site, Hon Owusu-Bio revealed that there were two issues brought to his attention by the disaster victims with one compensation.

He however, said though that wasn’t his mandate, he will seek redress for the people anyway he can.

The Atwima Nwabiagya Legislator also spoke about the Structural Integrity Report to ascertain whether or not more buildings will be pulled down to erect a other to replace.

He said since residents have asked for that report, the committee which he leads will make it available for them.

Deputy Western Regional Director of the Department of Rural Housing who also supervises the moulding of the modern concrete brick, Castro Kaliebu on his part said Appiatse residents are lucky to have this modern way of housing.

He assured them they will love to enjoy in the buildings more than that of blocks.

The visit saw most of the concrete bricks already moulded while work progressed steadily.
