Footwear Manufacturers cry out high cost of raw materials

We have been neglected for long, Cost of raw materials now on the rise, we need government intervention – Footwear Manufacturers cry out

The Chairman of Nkoko Adwosuo Footwear Manufacturers Association in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region Mr. Ebenezer Amaniampong has called on the government to intervene as cost of raw materials used in their activities keeps increasing at a faster rate as a result of the Cedi depreciation which affects production.

Speaking in an interview with Gye Nyame FM’s Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on the Breakfast Show dubbed Adeakye Abia, Mr. Ebenezer Amaniampong lamented on the collapse of their business as a result of government neglect towards their business despite the government’s intervention to ensure the growth of trade and industry in the country through the 1D1F initiative.

He stressed that government has invested into the Technical and Vocational education to enhance skilled training among the youths hence the need for government to also support the existing private companies through the 1D1F initiative to facilitate the government’s agenda to boost trade and industry to the expected beneficial level.

Mr. Ebenezer Amaniampong stressed that, the footwear manufacturers Association need a Shoe village to cater for all members in the Association to ensure effective work delivery.

He emphasized that, they will ensure Hostel facility is added to the Shoe Village when constructed to help engage more youth in the footwear manufacturing indicating that the company will enroll a lot of youth in the manufacturing industry to equip them with skills training to ameliorate unemployment rate among the youths in the country.

He has therefore pleaded with government to financially assist them to make work more attractive and comfortable and to lower youth unemployment.
