There’s a growing Tension at Dannso, a Suburb of the Bosome Freho district in the Ashanti Region over the spree of Galamsey activities.
The people over the years have declared firm stands that, under no circumstances will they allow the Operations of Galamsey to take place.
Speaking with Okogyeabour Ocran of Kingdom fm, the people fingered President’s Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo as the Mastermind behind the degradation of farm lands through Galamsey in the Catchment.
On Saturday 13th August,2022, the community flood the streets of Dannso to Demonstrate the piled up displeasure against Galamsey amidst call on President to call his appointee to order.
On the Other Side of the issue, The chief of the community, Nana Opoku Kyei II and his traditional Council had earlier turned down an attempt made by One Mr. GYIMAH ( miner) who wished to do Galamsey in the community the the Community Suspects fishy deal in favor of the Chief hence, the acceptance of Nana Asante Bediatuo.
The aggrieved residents have challenged the validity of the purported documents by Nana Asante Bediatuo and they have threatened to resist the activity in any form because according to them, their only river, RIVER DANN, will not be seen destroyed.
Investigations Conducted by Okogyeabour Ocran saw the Presence of Mecho men in the Community who according to the Intel guiding the Concession Allegedly belongs to President’s Secretary.
Nana Opoku Kyei II, The Chief of Dannso in a Phone interview Confirmed that, Nana Asante Bediatuo has officially come to do self introduction to the community as the Owner of the Concession.
On this development, the Investigations team led by Okogyeabour Ocran into the Community met the Benkum hene, Nifahene and Some Committee members of the community but everything appeared that, the aforementioned Leaders support the Galamsey in the Community.
The division over this issue has bleed Hatred and Tension in the Community and they are calling on the Minerals Commission to appear before the Community for clarity to be established.
The residents in their assertions maintained that, Bosome Freho district is behind in terms of Development meanwhile Galamsey has devastated the farm lands.
