BEKWAI ASH: GALAMSEYERS GET 5 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT.

The Bekwai circuit court in the Bekwai Municipal assembly has sentenced 2 people to 5 months imprisonment for operating illegal in Apamprama forest reserve and also for entering into Forest reserve without license contrary to mineral and mining Act 703/2906 section 99.

They were convicted of illegally mining in the Apramprama Forest Reserve. Chief Inspector S. Ofori told the court presided over by H/W Frederick Mawuri that the two, George Duadze, 25, and Kwaku Antiful, 23 both labourers who reside at Abuakwa near Jacobu in the Ashanti region were nabbed by the Bekwai District Forestry commission on the grounds of busily mining and washing gold in their dug pit with others who upon seeing the operation team fled away at Apamprama Forest Reserve at Ankam near Manso Nkwanta.

Bekwai District Forestry division as part of their measures to clamp down the activities of illegal felling of lumbers from its various Forest Reserves, the District manager Forestry commission George Agbenowoshi told heroesghnews.com news that the punishment will serve as a deterrent for others.

He also appealed to traditional leaders, the general public to help the Forestry commission to combat every illegal operators so as to reserve the forest and natural resources for future generation.
