Ghana’s Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto on Tuesday December 22nd, 2021, received the Executives of the Queen Mothers Association in Ghana at his office in Accra.
The up close was to discuss ways in which Agriculture in their various regions can improve for the benefit of their people, especially women and the youth.
The executives also sought to partner with the Ministry Of Food And Agriculture Ghana to embark on farming projects due to the availability of lands in their area.
They petitioned the office of the sector Minister to help in providing information on best livestock practices for farmers engaged in poultry and fish farming in their communities as well as that of crop farmers who engaged in maize, onions, orange production etal.
The Queen mothers expressed the need for equipment for their farmers and the establishment of factories to provide jobs for the youth.
They are hopeful that they will fully experience the 1District,1 Factory (1D1F) and Planting for Food and Jobs(PFJ) initiatives by the government of Ghana in their various communities.
The Agric Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto on his part, assured the Queen Mothers that the Directorate in charge of activities pertaining to Women and all other matters discussed at the meeting will factor in their concerns and devise ways the Ministry can support them.
He was delighted of an important stakeholder body of embracing such an important government policies it has seen the government pursuing to not only ensuring food security but also to better the livelihoods of their people and assuring them maximum coorperation and assistance.
