Coronavirus: Techiman Traditional Council and NADMO embark on Education on Covid-19 in Churches

The Techiman Municipal Covid 19 committee taskforce led by Kentenhene/Dabihene Nana Owusu Antwi Bosiako has randomly stormed some Churches in the Municipality to see how the congregations observe COVID 19 protocols. They used the opportunity to educate the congregants on the surge and new wave of the covid-19 infections which has claimed 15 lifes in the Municipality.

The taskforce which is made up of Traditional Authorities, the Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Police  services, NADMO, Immegration and Fire Services was to make sure that Institutions like schools, Churches and Mosques,  places like Market and recreational arease adhere to all safety protocols.

The 7 churches included Temple of praise ministry (Dwomor), New Apostic Church (Dwomor), Apostle Continuation Church International (Emmanuel Assembly _Diasempa),
Apostle Pentecostal Ministry Int ( Disasempa),
Jesus Anointing Ministry Int (Diasempa) and
Builders Christian Church ( Diasempa).

Ghana is currently experiencing another wave of COVID-19 infections.

The country has close to 4,000 active cases and 390 deaths as of the latest update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

This has led to pressure on health facilities in the country.

The Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Western regions are leading with high number of active cases.

The Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) has also confirmed Ghana as amongst countries on the continent where the new variant is spreading.

It said, although it doesn’t readily have a full appreciation of the extent of spread of the new variants in Africa, it had confirmed that the 501Y.V2 variant which was first discovered in South Africa, is currently spread in 22 countries across the world including Ghana in a statement issued.

Speaking to heroesghnews.com after the exercise, the Techiman Municipal NADMO Coordinator, Mr Eric Asiedu opined that about 15 people have so far died from the Coronavirus with number of total cases recorded in the Region amounts to over 830.

He state that they will continue the exercise to enforce all institutions and individuals in the Municipality to respond to the measures put in place by the the government and Ghana Health Services, cautioning that any person or groups who flouts shall brought before the laws of Ghana.
