Ghana records over 15,802 deaths from cancer-related diseases – Breast Care International

The President, Founder of Breast Care International and Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospitals, Dr. (Mrs) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, has started that over 15,802 deaths from cancer-related diseases in 2020 till dates in Ghana.

He said, out of the figure, 2,055 related to breast cancer, 3,166 to liver cancer, 2,129 to prostate and 169 to cervical cancer.

She indicated that, in all, about 24,009 cancer-related cases were diagnosed within the period under review.

Dr. Wiafe Addai, made these known at a Durbar organied by Goaso Traditional Council and Breast Care International in Goaso, Ahafo Regional capital to mark World Day,on the theme ‘Close the Care Gap’ She described cancer as a silent killer.

The four main prevalent cancer-related diseases in the country, she noted, were breast, liver, prostate and cervical cancers, saying early detection of the cancers was critical in preventing them from causing harm to the patient.

She asked Ghanaians to avail themselves of regular screening to identify any anomaly in their bodies that might be related to any of the cancer-related diseases to enhance their wellbeing.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon George Boakye commended Breast Care International and the Goaso Traditional Council for the awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

The Omanhene of Goaso, Nana Kwasi Bosompra l, who chaired the program also ask men to do regular check-up and screening.
