Old Tafo MP Vincent Ekow Assafuah has stated that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta must take full responsibility for his actions amid ongoing corruption investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Assafuah’s remarks come at a time when the OSP has officially declared Ofori-Atta a suspect in four high-profile corruption cases, including allegations related to the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML).

At a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that Ofori-Atta is now a wanted person and must return to Ghana immediately for questioning. Agyebeng warned that failure to comply would lead to measures to ensure his return.

Dismissing claims that Ofori-Atta left the country for medical treatment, Agyebeng emphasized that the former minister must cooperate with investigators. He also denied reports that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11.

The declaration of Ofori-Atta as a suspect marks a significant development in Ghana’s fight against corruption, as the OSP intensifies efforts to hold public officials accountable.
