Rent Control Authorities Issue Strong Message to Landlords, Landladies Over Rent Card, House Registration

Failing To Do Rent Card, Tenancy Agreement, And Registering Your House For Business Purposes A Breach Of Law: Western North Regional Rent Control Manager

The Western North Regional Rent Control Manager, Apostle Steve Edem Ampeh, has advice the landlords within the Western North who gives their house for rent or hiring in a manner of doing business with it should do the needful to register and to be able to pay taxes to help the government initiate a lot policy interventions to help the country move forward but preventing to do so facilitate a breach of the law.

According to Apostle Steve Edem Ampeh, there has been a series of quarrels, insults, misunderstanding and fighting between landlords and tenants which is creating a lot of confusion and unstable environment among themselves leading to an uncalled situation which does not help sensitize a nation building.

He, emphatically stated that landlords should try and do tenancy agreement, rent card to avoid controversies since the rent act 1962(section 30),frowns against it, and failure to do it does not help residents to live in peace and harmony.

Apostle Steve Edem Ampeh call on Ghanaians to support the government for implementing the rental assistance scheme since it is a good initiative and appeal to Ghanaians to provide a good information to help the policy to sustain and help others to benefit.

Meanwhile the rent control laws of Ghana provide that the landlord can apply to the rent magistrate for the ejection of a tenant from a property where any rent lawfully due from the tenant has not been paid or tendered within one month after the date on which it became lawfully due.
