The health services manager for Goldfields Ghana Limited, Dr. Ishmael Kwasi Sackey, has advised the general public most expecially those living in the mining areas should be very careful about the Marburg disease because the Bat that carry the Marburg virus are common in the communities.
Dr Sackey explained that the bats that normally carry the virus live in a pit adding that those going to mine in such places should be protected.
Dr. Ishmael Kwasi Sackey said this in an interview with Nana Poku of Dynamite fm Tarkwa, when Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa mine organized free medical screening for some communities within the company’s catchment area.
