Kwabre East: Eschew All Partisan Politics and make the Development of the Municipality Your first Priority ~ MCE urges Assembly Members

The Kwabre East Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region has held its first ordinary meeting of the 9th Assembly at the Municipal Assembly Hall, at Mamponteng the Municipal capital on Tuesday.

The Assembly meeting was aimed to pass a resolution of mid year budget and deliberate on the developmental projects across the Municipality.

In His maiden sessional address to the general Assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Joseph Amankwah took the opportunity to deliberate on the mid-year budget describing it as “victory and love” budget following the swift approval by the members in that august house.

He also commended the Assembly members for their support in the discharge of the Assembly’s responsibility and charged them to put party politics aside and yell for development as their major priority of the municipality in this current period.

“I believe that Unity is very indispensable if we want to move our Municipality forward. Let us eschew partisan politics in all our deliberations and ensure that development of the municipality becomes the ultimate aim in every aspect of our discussion. I wish all of us a fruitful day” ~ Hon Amankwah pointed.

New Projects

Accoding to the session of the Chief Executive’s maiden address, the following projects have been earmarked to be taken on board for the year 2025.

1. Construction and furnishing of CHPS Compound at Dumanafo.

II. Construction and furnishing of 1No. 6-Unit classroom block with office and store at Aboaso Holy Quran Primary School.

III. Construction and furnishing of 1No. 2-Unit KG block with office and store at Yasore.

IV. Procurement of 800No. Octagon tables and chairs for KG pupils.

V. Procurement of 2,000 No. dual desks for public primary schools.

VI. Evacuation of refuse and maintenance of dumping site municipal wide.

VII. Drilling and mechanisation of 20 No. boreholes with 5000litres reservoir, municipal wide.

VIII. Drilling, mechanisation and extension of 2No. boreholes pipelines at Mamponteng NHIS Area.

GHANA SECONDARY CITIES SUPPORT PROGRAMME (GSCSP)

With respect to the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme, Hon Joseph Amankwah disclosed that, Kwabre East Municipal Assembly was among ten additional Assemblies selected in 2022 to benefit from the Urban Development Grant (UDG) and Capacity Support Grant (CSG) components under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme.

A total of GHS 1,313,613.00 was received under CSG (for CSG 3 and 4), used to enhance urban management capacity and equip departments with essential tools and data systems GHS 71,448,606.10 was received unter the Investment component and allocated primarily to the construction of roads and market.

Meanwhile the, Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon Bruce Yeboah also expressed satisfaction of the contribution of the Assembly members, although the Assembly need to organize a workshop programmes for the new emerged members.

He reiterated and backed the call to transform and think of the development of the municipality rather than engaging themselves in partisan politics which has bedevilled Kwabre East in terms of development for so many years.
