Pankrono K’si: WACSI Wraps up Its Mobilising Support Coaching Visit To CSOs

On 27th of August, 2025, a high-powered delegation team from the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) paid a working visit to Pankrono Community through the Pankrono Development Union PDU, in the Old Tafo municipality of Ashanti region.

The WACSI is a non governmental and profit making organisation aimed at strengthening institutional and operational capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) in West Africa to promote effective policy engagement, good governance, and sustainable development.

Mr Fiifi Boateng the Communications Officer and Trainer/Facilitator speaking to news men after the stakeholders engagement at the Community centre on Wednesday said the WACSI also involves providing capacity-building programs for training and empowerment, conducting research and knowledge promotion, advocating for enabling policies and donor practices, and acting as a resource center for CSOs to enhance their effectiveness, resilience, and influence.

According to Fiifi Boateng, the Institute offers capacity building; which gives training and programs to improve the governance, management, operations, and partnerships of CSOs in the region.

“The organization conducts research on relevant topics like civil society sustainability, civic space, and the impact of CSOs on development, publishing findings to inform stakeholders”, He added.

The Pankrono Development Union ODU, led by Mr. Kofi Opuni Appiah, who has undergone series of WACSI training also harnessed advocacy to secure a new toilet facility for the community school.

According him the PDU’s consistent advocacy, backed by strong community mobilisation, has ensured that school going children no longer excuse themselves from school, lose study time whilst walking long distances to response to nature call or spend their lunch money on private toilets.

“This advocacy training has really helped us push for development in the community and we will be using it more,” ~ Mr. Opuni.

These stories show the power of advocacy driven community action to shape policy, mobilise resources, and create lasting change.
