The Cocoa farmers in Ahafo Region has charged the government to fix deplorable roads leading to farming communities in order to make transport of raw farm produce to market centers much easier.
The road network to some farming communities is in deplorable state especially during raining season.
Speaking at the 10th Annual General Meeting of Asunafo North Municipal Co operative cocoa farmers in Goaso, Ahafo Regional Capital, the farmers noted with concern the bad state of some roads leading to farm gates and nearest market centers.
President of Asunafo North Municipal Co operative cocoa farmers, Mr. Daniel Amponsah Gyinaye said if government can pay attention to roads that connect farms to urban centres, that will give true meaning to farmers day celebrations since the burden of the farmer would be lessened.
He said Government should make road construction its number one priority to make transport of farm produce from villages to the cities”.
The Manager of Asunafo North Municipal Co operative Cocoa farmers, Mr. Patrick Owusu said the health conditions of it’s members is paramount and hence to move to renewover 1,000 NHIS cards for cocoa farmers.
