The Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat (GNECS), has advised Ghanaians to eat eggs on daily basis to reduce the risk of heart diseases, stroke, and other health related illnesses.
The National Coordinator of Ghana National Egg Secretariat, Madam Comfort Kyerewa Acheampong, said eating eggs daily help to increase their High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), also known as the ‘good cholesterol’ for the human body.
Madam Acheampong gave the advice in an interview with the Success FM’s Atiewin Mohammed in Goaso, Ahafo Capital as part of their nationwide tour to all the sixteen regions for shakeholders meetings with Poultry farmers, Egg Sellers and Nutrition officer from Ghana Health Service in the Ahafo Region.
Madam Confort Kyerewa explain the nutritional values in eggs for human health adding that eating eggs during breakfast could keep one energized until lunch, and also promotes muscle recovery during exercise as well as helps to prevent muscle loss during ageing.
The Ahafo Regional President of Women’s in Poultry Value Chain, Naomi Bonsu appeal to shakeholders and media to join them in dispelling myths about the consumption of eggs to help boost their businesses.
Naomi Bonsu said the consumption of eggs has been ‘demonized’ and as a result, its patronage has been hugely affected thereby having a toll on them.
They are therefore calling on the nutrition officers of Ghana health Service and the media to join them in sensitization the general Public.
