Two life Lost, Properties destroyed at Dunkwa on-Offin.
A heavy flood has hit Dunkwa on-Offin the Municipal capital for upper Denkyira East municipality leaving people homeless.
speaking to the Municipal Director for National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Mr. Alhassan Yakubu said, the flood has destroyed households and properties in the Municipality.
Stating the affected areas the NADMO Director mentioned sofokrom, Accra-town, Presentiase, Acquahkrom, and Burrier which according to him, 80 households and properties have been vandalized claiming at least two.
He stated the cause of the unfortunate tragedy was as a result of illegal mining activities in the Offin River.
Mr Assan urged people staying in flood-prone areas to vacate to more convenient place so as to avoid similar incident.
He appealed Philanthropists, Corporate bodies for food, clothing, matress and among other things to aid the victims.
Meanwhile, the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Environmental Health Officer Mr. Andrews Asare Afari urged people in the Municipality to disband dumping of waste materials in drain whenever it rains.
“When it happens that way it will bring disease like cholera and many others if the Environmental Officers caught anyone in that act will be prosecuted” he added.
