The Atebubu Amantin Divisional Police Command has arrested over 30 persons for deliberately flouting the Covid-19 pandemic safety protocols, especially persons trading, moving in and out without the use of nose masks.
They were nabbed in the streets of Atebubu Township and in the main market as part of daily patrols to help contain the spread of the virus.
The Municipal Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Bright Boafo briefing the media said the operation was to enforce the President’s directive on Covid-19.
The offenders were later granted Police enquiry bail.
“Each and every one of us is needed to contribute his or her quota towards the national development therefore we should be law-abiding”, he said.
Chief Supt Boafo said the police will continue enforce the directives since the virus has no respect for any person.
He warned that people who violate the protocols will be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
