The latest update from WAEC on the ongoing WASSCE 2022 indicates the leakage of Mathematics (Elective) Paper 2 and Mathematics (Core) Paper 2.

WAEC to mark WASSCE 2022 Maths (Core & Elective) Papers With Iron Hands.

“With respect to Mathematics (Elective) Paper 2 and Mathematics (Core) Paper 2 however, reports were received of some handwritten extracts of some questions on monitored platforms.

The Council would, as such, deploy various internationally accepted assessment procedures to guarantee the credibility of results for the two papers.

Investigations are ongoing, and any further developments will be communicated accordingly.” The statement said.

The above is a clear indication the Council does not intend to cancel the papers but instead will apply the strictest marking of scripts.

WAEC further indicated that it had not received any complaints about schools or school authorities restricting access to school compounds for monitoring purposes since it raised concerns ahead of the examination.

According to the WAEC, impersonation continues to be worrying examination malpractice in the ongoing 2022WASSCE.

“This is a worrying phenomenon because this is a school examination and school authorities should be able to identify their candidates. As of today, 23 suspected impersonation cases from the following schools have been reported to the police” The report indicated.

The schools caught in the act and the number of candidates involved as follows.

Impersonation is a serious offense punishable by the law and could lead to imprisonment as well as the barring of a candidate from taking a WAEC administered examination for a number of years. The results of candidates caught in the act could also be cancelled.
