Atebubu Amantin: Parish Priest Calls For Reintroduction Of Corporal Punishment In Schools

The Assistant Parish Priest for Atebubu Catholic Church Rev. Father Dombomon has called on the Ministry of Education to reintroduced corporal punishment in schools.

According to him, reintroducing corporal punishment in schools will restore/ intensify discipline among students.

He explained that in the olden days of schooling, corporal punishment was part of the measure laid down to combat insubordination and indiscipline among students which positively impacted the lives of numerous students who are currently supporting the nation’s building with innovations and ideas hence the reintroduction of corporal punishment which may cause a little pain to disobedient students will serve as a deterrent to others who may have an intention to also disobey their teachers or authorities.

He said this during Catholic Education Week Celebration at Atebubu.

He again appealed to parents not to put all the burden on government because of free education but try their best to provide some basic needs to their children especially those at the public schools.

Meanwhile Atebubu Amantin Municipal Education Director, Mr.Isaac Budu also commended Catholic Church on their contribution towards education.
